Een lijn een grens (a line a border) is a series of 10 images in which I wanted to raise questions about boundaries, ownership, identity, care, and neglect—in other words, about the way we make ourselves visible or invisible in space. The fence, the gate, the hedge, the wall... describe a typological motif throughout the Flemish (and Belgian) landscape. They function as a second facade, a boundary, a demarcation that may or may not be inviting. It is the materialization and the ‘artificiality’ ('gemaaktheid') of these lines and the contradictions of living side by side that interested me. All images were taken in Dilbeek in the run-up to the FRIS Take-Over at De Westrand in Dilbeek.
